Nick Knight (British, b. 1958) March, model: Mariacarla Boscono (for the 2004 Pirelli Calendar), 2003 Digital pigment print, 2005 18-7/8 x 25-7/8 inches (47.9 x 65.7 cm) (image) 35 x 42 inches (sheet) Signed, dated, and inscribed in pencil, verso. PROVENANCE: The artist; Private collection, gift from the above. For the 2004 Pirelli calendar, photographer Nick Knight and art director Peter Saville reoriented the perspective from traditional male desires toward those of women. Drawing inspiration from fourteen conversations with prominent women, Knight crafted unique narratives for each month, reflecting their personal and intimate sexual fantasies. This photograph illustrates novelist Emma Forrest's fantasy, vividly realized through Knight's artistic interpretation.
